Being a Facilitator at the Media-Makers Fellowship

Facilitators will work directly with students and co-facilitate various sessions of the Fellowship. Each facilitator will manage a team of 8-10 students with the help of an intern.

Responsibilities:​

  • Facilitate student learning 

    - Co-facilitate (online) Masterclasses and Coaching Calls

    - Masterclasses will be held every Sunday from 11am to 1pm and Coaching Calls will be held on Tuesday from 6pm to 7:30pm 

    - Address any doubts or concerns students may have 

    - Use VND's rubric and guidelines to give feedback on student work

    ​

  • Monitor and support student well-being

    - Conduct regular check-ins with individual students 

    - Liaise between students and the Via News Didi team​

    ​

  • Other responsibilities 

    - Attend a weekly check-in with Team Via News Didi

    - Fill trackers related to student progress and complete other program documentation

    ​

  • Duration of Work

    1st November to 21st December. ​

    ​​

  • We’re looking for someone with :

    - A degree in media studies/journalism or mass communication (preferred but not mandatory)

    - Experience of working with children

    - Interest in media, writing, news and/or creating content

    ​

  • Other important details : 

    - It is mandatory for facilitators to attend ALL Masterclasses and Coaching Calls. 

    - Facilitators should be able to spare 4-6 hrs per week for Fellowship tasks (including sessions

    - Facilitators will be required to attend an online orientation before the Fellowship begins

    - Facilitators will receive an honorarium of Rs.4000 as a token of our gratitude.

Being an Intern at the Media-Makers Fellowship

The internship opportunity is open only for past participants of the Media Makers Fellowship (previously known as the Re-Imagining Media Program).

 

Our interns :

  • lead the production of the weekly Fellowship zine,

  • help students navigate the many twists and turn of the fellowship

  • and facilitate sessions for students 

Responsibilities 

  • Program documentation 

    - Take pictures and record videos of sessions

    - Track and document student progress as prescribed by Team VND 

    - Fill trackers and other documents as prescribed by Team VND​

    Conduct feedback interviews with participants 

    - Maintain and update the MMF student website 

    ​

  • Creating the zine 

    - Writing, editing or designing the weekly fellowship zine

    - Conducting interviews with media mentors, both during and after the session

    - Creating content for social media and student learning

    ​

  • Program Communication & Logistics

    - Manage communication with fellows by including sending emails and Whatsapp messages 

    - Managing student team WhatsApp groups

    - Guiding student participants towards successful program completion

    - Conduct weekly check-ins with fellows

    - Address student concerns and lease between fellows and Team VND

    - Attend all Masterclasses and co-facilitate Coaching Calls 

    ​

Desired Skills and Interests

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills 

  • Working knowledge of Canva 

  • An interest in media and or/journalism, like writing articles, podcasting or creating videos

  • Accountability towards deadlines and deliverables

 

Duration of Work

1st November to 21st December​

What will you receive?

  • A Certificate of Participation 

  • An Experience letter detailing your work during the program

  • An honorarium of Rs.1500
